3. Hosting

This website is hosted by Railway. The application is operated on servers located within the European Union, currently in the Netherlands.

During hosting, personal data necessary for the operation and provision of the website (e.g. IP addresses and technical log data) is processed.

The processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a secure and efficient operation of the website).

4. Registration and Use of the App

Registration is required to use Pricewatcha.

5. Database and Authentication

We use Supabase for authentication and data storage.

Supabase processes email addresses and application-related data required to operate Pricewatcha.

6. Email Delivery

We use Resend to send system-related emails (such as verification emails, price alerts, and service notifications).

Your email address is processed solely for the purpose of sending these emails.

7. Browser Extension (optional)

For many platforms, an optional browser extension can be used as an alternative to server-side scraping, especially when regular product capture fails.

When using the extension, product-related data (e.g. URL, title, price, and currency) is extracted from the currently opened product page and sent to our Pricewatcha server so the product can be added or updated in Pricewatcha.

The extension stores only technically required local browser data (e.g. authentication status, API base URL, and already processed URLs) to provide its functionality.

Processing is based on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in stable and user-friendly product capture).

8. Third-Country Transfers

It cannot be ruled out that personal data processed by our service providers may also be transferred to third countries.

In such cases, data transfers are carried out based on appropriate safeguards in accordance with Art. 46 GDPR, including contractual safeguards or recognized data protection standards.

9. Web Analytics

We use two web analytics services to evaluate how our website is used anonymously and to improve the stability and usability of Pricewatcha.

Umami (self-hosted)

Pricewatcha uses the self-hosted web analytics service Umami. In this context:

Ahrefs Web Analytics

We also use Ahrefs Web Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Ahrefs Pte. Ltd. (Singapore). The tracking script is loaded from analytics.ahrefs.com.

Ahrefs collects aggregated usage data, including visited page URLs, referrers, browser and device information (user agent), approximate location (country and city, derived from the IP address), and language settings. Ahrefs does not permanently store IP addresses after processing. No cookies are set, no cross-device or cross-website profiles are created, and no data is used for advertising purposes.

Processing may take place outside the EU/EEA; the safeguards described in section 8 apply. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in anonymous usage analysis). For more information, see the Ahrefs privacy policy.

10. Data Retention

Personal data is stored only for as long as necessary to fulfill the respective purposes or as required by statutory retention obligations.

Once the purpose no longer applies or a user account is deleted, the corresponding data will be deleted unless legal retention requirements apply.

When a user account is deleted, authentication data and all personal data associated with the user account are removed. Product and price data may remain stored but are no longer associated with any identifiable user.
